Granerud dominates Tournament opening in Oberstdorf
Wednesday, December 28 - Qualification
Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud won the first qualification of the 71st Four Hills Tournament ahead of overall World Cup leader Dawid Kubacki from Poland. Third place went to Timi Zajc from Slovenia. A real task for the knockout duel in the first competition round has local hero Karl Geiger, who was seventh in the qualification against Austria's Stefan Kraft, who started badly into the Tournament.
Thursday, December 29 - Competition
The competition one day later was also won by Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud. In front of 25,500 spectators he proved his class again and relegated his Polish competitors Piotr Żyła and Dawid Kubacki to second and third place.
The first tour competition was also successful for the DSV eagles. Karl Geiger just missed the podium with 1.3 points behind in third place. Andreas Wellinger finished sixth, youngster Philipp Raimund convinced with 14th place. Markus Eisenbichler and Pius Paschke surprisingly didn't make it to the second round.
