Kubacki wins qualification and competition in Innsbruck
Tuesday, January 3 - Qualification
The qualification in Innsbruck was decided by the second of the Tour overall ranking Dawid Kubacki with the day's highest distance of 128,0 metres. Second with a gap of 4 points was his Polish teammate Kamil Stoch. Slovenian Anže Lanišek finished third. The overall leader of the Tour ranking Halvor Egner Granerud only made it to 13th place. For the best German in the Tour ranking, Karl Geiger, the qualification ended bitterly. He missed the qualification for the competition by 0.2 points as 51st.
Wednesday, January 4 - Competition
Dawid Kubacki won after the qualification also one day later in the competition and made up some points on the leader in the overall ranking. This leader - Halvor Egner Granerud, finished second behind the Pole. Third place went to the third overall, Anže Lanišek. The Austrian and Polish teams delivered great team performances, with four and three athletes in the top 10, respectively.
For the German team, the jumping did not go optimally without Karl Geiger. Best German was youngster Philipp Raimund on 13th place, who was the only DSV eagle who could really convince. Andreas Wellinger on 18, Markus Eisenbichler on 22, Constantin Schmid on 26, Pius Paschke on 28 and Stephan Leyhe on 33 were the other rankings of the German athletes.
