Chaotic mixed competition ends with happy Slovenians
Mixed Team Competition Normal Hill
For the first time in the history of the Olympic Winter Games, a mixed competition in ski jumping was held in Beijing. This is not the only reason why it will be remembered by all participants for a long time. The competition was overshadowed by five disqualifications. The suits of the jumpers Sara Takanashi (JPN), Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT), Katharina Althaus (GER), Anna Odine Stroem (NOR) and Silje Opseth (NOR) did not meet the requirements of the competition management and led to the disqualification of the respective athletes. The Slovenian team with Nika Kriznar, Timi Zajc, Ursa Bogataj and Peter Prevc was unimpressed and won the gold medal with a clear lead. Silver went to the Russian Olympic Committee, bronze to the Canadians.
