Constantin Schmid wins qualification in Oslo

A successful start for the Germans at Raw Air. First Constantin Schmid won the qualification on Friday, then the DSV-jumpers reached the second place in the team jumping. As a result Schmid temporarily took the lead in the RAW AIR overall standings.

With his victory Schmid took over the jersey of the Raw Air leader. On Friday, Raw Air started with the qualification at Holmenkollen, Oslo. Constantin Schmid himself was surprised when he was the winner of the first qualification. With 127. 7 points he narrowly prevailed over Michael Hayboeck from Austria (127. 5 points) and the Slovenian Ziga Jelar (127. 2 points). Behind Jelar, the Norwegian Robert Johansson finished 4th, Piotr Zyla 5th and Stefan Kraft 6th. The best Germans, apart from Schmid, were Stephan Leyhe and Karl Geiger in 12th and 13th place.

Also on Saturday the DSV eagles were successful and reached the second place in team jumping, behind Norway and just ahead of Slovenia. The German team, consisting of Constantin Schmid, Pius Paschke, Stephan Leyhe and Karl Geiger showed a strong performance, but lost to the Norwegian team, which was able to use its home advantage. Norway thus wins the team jumping competition in Oslo for the third year in a row. With the second place, Germany also took the lead in the Nations Cup, as the until then leading Austrians placed 6th on Saturday.

Due to the bad weather on Sunday the competitions had to be postponed. These will be caught up today at Lillehammer, the second station of Raw Air.
