DSV team shines in Willingen
At the Mixed World Cup in Willingen on Friday, the quartet of Agnes Reisch, Selina Freitag, Karl Geiger, and Philipp Raimund put in a strong performance and took an excellent second place. Selina Freitag was particularly impressive with her consistent jumps, even putting the team in first place at one point. Agnes Reisch had to jump in difficult wind conditions and long waiting times, but she fought her way through and secured valuable points for the overall standings. Karl Geiger and Philipp Raimund rounded off the strong team result and kept the gap to the Slovenians small.
On Saturday, the men's individual competition was on the agenda, and Karl Geiger made an impressive comeback. With a jump of 140.5 meters, he finished in third place, securing his first podium finish since March 2025. After a difficult season so far, in which he was not nominated for the Olympics, this success was a clear exclamation mark. Andreas Wellinger and Felix Hoffmann also put in strong performances and finished in the top 10, while Philipp Raimund was still searching for his form.
On Sunday, Philipp Raimund shone in the individual competition. Despite difficult wind and fog conditions, he jumped 139.5 meters and secured third place behind Domen Prevc and Ren Nikaido. Raimund thus proved himself to be in top form just in time for the Olympics and confirmed his status as a promising medal contender. Other German athletes such as Wellinger and Hoffmann also scored important points and strengthened the team ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
With these performances, the DSV team has impressively demonstrated that it is competitive at World Cup level and is going into the Olympic competitions with a lot of confidence. The individual competition will start on Monday, February 9, at the Predazzo ski jumping stadium.
