Double win of Kraft in Oberstdorf

Austrian wins the Skiflying competitions. Strong Wellinger with two new hill records.

Stefan Kraft wins both competitions in Oberstdorf after being successful there approximately one month ago, at the Four Hills Tournament.

Still Andreas Wellinger from Germany brought off the moment of the evening with his flight on 234.5 meters and a new hill record on Saturday. Even with a second flight on 222.5 meters he didn’t manage to take the win as Stefan Kraft had a better score with 439,9 points. Kamil Stoch from Poland landed on the third place (222.5m/217.0m; 425,4 p.).

Sunday’s competition started with a shock: Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT) fell  on his qualification flight and suffered minor injuries on his thorax and femoral.
The competition went on but after one heat the jury took the decision to end it as complicated wind conditions made it impossible to continue. At this moment Stefan Kraft was again the best athlete with a distance of 235.5 meters and 232.6 reached points. But as the day before he wasn’t the skiflyer with the longest flight. Wellinger impressed the spectators again and renewed his hill record, now on 238 meters but still only gained 220 points and took the second place. Surprise of the day was Jurij Tepes (228m;215.1 p.) who reached the third position.
