Election as „Sportsman of the Year"; DSV-Adler awarded!

Yesterday, the best athletes in Germany were honoured with the title „Athlete of the Year";. Around 700 guests took part in the gala event at the Kurhaus in Baden Baden. Among the winners are long-jumper Malaika Mihambo (Sportswoman of the Year), decathlete Niklas Kaul (Sportswoman of the Year) and the DSV-Adler as Team of the Year.

The World Championship team, consisting of Markus Eisenbichler, Richard Freitag, Stephan Leyhe and Karl Geiger, was honoured for their performances at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld/Innsbruck. There, after more than 18 years, the German ski jumpers succeeded in winning a gold medal in the team competition at a World Championships. In addition to the „Team of the Year"; award, the individual athletes were also chosen. When the „Sportsman of the Year"; is selected, around 3000 members of the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS) decide which sportsman or woman has distinguished themselves for this prize through their performance, attitude, fair play and records. Here, too, triple World Champion and second in the Four Hills Tournament Markus Eisenbichler did well and finished third behind Niklas Kaul (Decathlon World Champion) and Jan Frodeno (Ironman Winner). To celebrate the day, Oberbayer put a Schuhplattler on the package. This could be an additional motivating factor in the race for the golden eagle at the Four Hills Tournament, which will take place on 28. December 2019 starts.
