German win in Zakopane

The DSV athletes take the team win in Poland on Saturday. Kamil Stoch celebrates home triumph on Sunday.

This weekend was a successful one for the German skijumpers. After the qualification win of Stephan Leyhe on Friday, they managed to achieve the victory in teams’ competition. Markus Eisenbichler, Stephan Leyhe, Andreas Wellinger and Richard Freitag (1116.3 p.) were the members to win over Poland (Zyla, Kot, Kubacki, Stoch/1111.2 p.) and Slovenia (D. Prevc, P. Prevc, Tepes, Damjan/1102.7 p.).

Kamil Stoch convinced on Sunday by winning the individual competition of the weekend at his home hill in Zakopane. With jumps on 130.5 and 131m he could take the first position right in front of Andreas Wellinger (130.5m/133.0m) and Richard Freitag (132.5m/131.0m). Also, Markus Eisenbichler showed a good competition and ended on the fourth position. Karl Geiger on 11 and Stephan Leyhe on 16 completed the superb German weekend results.

The Nations Cup is still lead by Poland with 2966 points in front of Germany on position two with 2658 points, Austria on three with 2543 points, Norway on four with 1867 points and Slovenia on five with 1767 points.
