Kobayashi wins, Eisenbichler second

The first jumps of the 67th four hills tournament are done. Ryoyu Kobayashi, favourite and world cup leader, got the win in Oberstdorf. On second place: Markus Eisenbichler.

“I would like to cry right now”, Eisenbichler confessed while being interviewed after the winners ceremony. Cry for joy, of course: The German had just won the second rank of Oberstdorf and was as a matter of fact really close to his first world cup win. Ryoyu Kobayashi had only 0,4 points more at the end.

On the other hand, Andreas Wellinger had little to be happy about. The Olympic Champion went out in the first round. “I’ll have to let that sink in. Yesterday I made one step forward, today two backwards”, Wellinger said, sounding annoyed with himself. Tomorrow, though, he and all the other jumpers will get a new chance at the qualification for the New Year’s Ski Jumping.
