Kraft and Zyla prevail at skiflying

On Saturday, Piotr Zyla from Poland already won the first ski flying World Cup of the season. On Sunday Stefan Kraft added to his strength and won his home World Cup on the Kulm after the first run.

Difficult weather conditions already troubled the athletes and organizers on Friday. The qualification on Friday had to be cancelled, which gave all 53 athletes the chance to fly on Saturday. Piotr Zyla had the lead on Saturday in Bad Mitterndorf and won very gently with 0.3 points ahead of second placed Timi Zajc. Third place on Saturday was taken by Stefan Kraft. After the second run had to be cancelled on Sunday due to increasingly bad weather conditions, the results of the 1st run counted. Kraft won with 0. 7 points over Ryoyu Kobayashi. Third place went to the strong Slovenian Timi Zajc, who had already been on the podium on Saturday. Two Germans flew into the top 10 on Sunday. Karl Geiger reached place 6 and Stephan Leyhe jumped to place 10. In the overall ski flying world cup standings, Geiger is thus in 5th place. Stefan Kraft also leads this ranking, with 20 points gap to Timi Zajc.

Geiger stays on Stefan Kraft's heels in the overall World Cup ranking and can shorten the gap next weekend in Rasnov, Romania.
