Kraft wins Raw Air trophy

Wellinger (GER) in the final round without a chance. World records in the team event.

A fifth place was enough for Stefan Kraft (AUT) to win the Raw Air trophy in Vikersund on Sunday. The day's victory on the Monsterbakken was won by Kamil Stoch (POL). With jumps to 238.5 and 237 meters he won ahead of 44-year-old Japanese Noriaki Kasai and Krafts teammate Michael Hayböck. Kraft, who beat the ski jumping world record with 253.5 meters on Saturday, benefited from the changing conditions in the second round on the final day. After a jump to 242 meters, Andreas Wellinger was on the top of the standings. But with bad conditions in the second he landed at 166 meters and fell back to 18th place. In the Raw-Air final standings he fell back to third place. After the day’s win Stoch conquered the second place.

In the team event on Saturday the German quartet with Andreas Wellinger, Markus Eisenbichler, Richard Freitag and Karl Geiger (1305.2 points) only finished on the fifth place. Under the eyes of King Harald the victory went to hosting nation Norway (1572.6) ahead of Poland (1538,6) and Austria (1465,4). The royal also saw two world records. Before Krafts jump into the history books the Norwegian Robert Johansson also set a new world record. But on this day his jump to 252 meters was not enough to beat Kraft.
