Podium place for DSV at Triple World Cup in Sapporo
Friday - Individual Jumping
Local hero Ryoyu Kobayashi made an impressive comeback at his home World Cup. The Japanese, who has not yet been able to match his performances of the last few years, showed with his victory on Friday that he is still a force to be reckoned with. 7.2 points behind was the overall World Cup leader Dawid Kubacki from Poland ahead of Tournament winner Halvor Egner Granerud from Norway.
The DSV could only be happy about one place in the top 10. Andreas Wellinger placed 8th and the second best German athlete was Karl Geiger in 20th place.
Saturday - Individual Jumping
Saturday's competition was won by Austria's Stefan Kraft, 5.6 points ahead of Halvor Egner Granerud. Third on the podium again was Ryoyu Kobayashi.
Again Andreas Wellinger was the only DSV eagle among the best 10, this time in seventh place. Stephan Leyhe in 17th place was the second best German.
Sunday - Individual Jumping
Ryoyu Kobayashi was the dominating jumper of the weekend and proved that also on Sunday. He won the competition with a lead of 12 points ahead of Halvor Egner Granerud. In third place Markus Eisenbichler could be happy about his first individual podium of the season. After missing the second round in 31st place the day before, the German eagle claimed the first podium finish in an individual event for the DSV since Karl Geiger's third place in Titisee-Neustadt.
Andreas Wellinger was the second-best DSV athlete in twelfth place, Karl Geiger didn't reach the second round as 34th.
