Wellinger back at the top!

After such a long time, the Ski Jumping World Cup once again made a stop in America, Lake Placid. In the state of New York Andreas Wellinger showed himself confident and strong back at the top of the world with a victory and a second place.

Saturday - Individual Jumping

On Saturday evening, 33 years after Andre Kiesewetter, Andreas Wellinger won this weekend's World Cup on the 1932 and 1980 Olympic hill in Lake Placid. The 27-year-old jumped 129 m and 125.5 m in his World Cup comeback at the top and scored 264.5 points. In the final he caught up with Ryoyu Kobayashi (136 m and 114 m; 256 points), who was leading after round one and set a new hill record in the first round. Austria's Daniel Tschofenig finished third with 255.4 points after jumps over 129 m and 120 m and made his first podium.

Saturday - Super Team Competition

The Polish duo with Piotr Żyła and Dawid Kubacki deservedly wins the premiere in the super team competition ahead of Austria (787.6) and Japan (776.7). Germany (774.2) just missed the podium in fourth place due to a slightly weaker last jump of Andreas Wellinger.

Sunday - Individual Jumping

One day after his victory in Lake Placid, Andreas Wellinger from Ruhpolding finished second on Sunday. With distances of 124.0 and 130.0 meters Wellinger was only beaten by Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud. The World Cup leader jumped to 125.0 and 134.0 meters and distanced Wellinger by 11.5 points. Third went to Austria's Stefan Kraft (123.5 meters/130.0 meters). Karl Geiger also showed strong jumps and secured a great fourth place.
