DSV eagles take third in the team competition in Zakopane

The first World Cup weekend after the Four Hills Tournament took place in Zakopane, Poland. In the individual competition Halvor Egner Granerud won, in the team competition there was a long-awaited podium for the German team.

Saturday - Team Jumping

The first team competition of the winter was won by the Austrian team with Daniel Tschofenig, Michael Hayböck, Manuel Fettner and Stefan Kraft, just one point ahead of Poland, who secured second place with Kamil Stoch, Piotr Żyła, Paweł Wąsek and Dawid Kubacki.

After the disappointing Tournament for Germany there was a ray of hope for the DSV. The quartet of Markus Eisenbichler, Philipp Raimund, Karl Geiger and Andreas Wellinger took third place only 7.1 points behind the winning team.

Sunday - Individual Jumping

In the individual competition on Sunday the dominating athletes of the World Cup season so far prevailed once again. The competition, in which the athletes had to fight with a lot of wind, was won by the overall Tournament winner Halvor Egner Granerud from Norway. Behind him, with a margin of 1.1 points, was the overall World Cup leader Dawid Kubacki from Poland. Third place went to Austria's Stefan Kraft.

Markus Eisenbichler was the best DSV athlete in sixth place and showed promising progress after the botched Tournament. Behind him Andreas Wellinger placed 11th, Karl Geiger 14th, Stephan Leyhe 19th, Constantin Schmid 22nd and Philipp Raimund 29th.
