Kot takes the overall victory – Severin Freund back on the jumping hill

Double victory for Maciej Kot in the Summer Grand Prix final at Hinzenbach and Klingenthal. Severin Freund is back, finishing in a strong 11th place.

Maciej Kot took the win in the first competition of the weekend in Hinzenbach (Austria) with jumps up to 92 and 93 metres ahead of his teammate Dawid Kubacki. Peter Prevc ended up in third. The best DSV athlete was Andreas Wellinger finishing in fourth position (87,5 and 90 metres). Richard Freitag reached ninth place. Severin Freund achieved a remarkable 11th position on his comeback after being out due to a hip surgery.

The second competition in Klingenthal was again dominated by Maciej Kot, winning with 140 metres in the first round and breaking the hill record with 143,5 metres in the second round. Kamil Stoch ended up in second and Peter Prevc in third place.

Stefan Eisenbichler, who has just taken the overall title in the Contintental Cup was the best German athlete in Sunday’s competition, finishing fifth. Severin Freund came twelfth and therefore achieved a considerable result.

Overall winner, Maciej Kot had already sealed his victory at the Summer Grand Prix on Saturday and finished with 580 points ahead of Andreas Wellinger with 351 points. Kamil Stoch completed the podium.

DSV national coach Werner Schuster declared himself satisfied with the performance of his athletes: „We established ourselfs among the best in the world“, said Schuster. The aim for the winter is clear: „We want to compete for the victory at the Four Hills tournament.“

The athletes will now start their preparation for the World Cup season 2016/17, starting November 24th in Kuusamo (Finland).
