Lahti: German individual and team success
After a weekend without medals in Oberstdorf, successes can be celebrated again in Finland: DSV eagles are on the podium in two of a total of three competitions (two individual competitions and one team competition).
Compared to the previous week, Constantin Schmid replaced Felix Hofmann in the team. Schmid secured a World Cup quota place thanks to his performances in the Continental Cup.
Friday - Individual jumping
The qualification for the first individual competition in Lahti ended successfully for Germany. All six DSV eagles qualified. The best German was Andreas Wellinger in third place.
In the competition, Wellinger was in fourth place after the first run, but was also able to make up two places and secure the silver medal. The victory went to Lovro Kos from Slovenia.
The other results of the DSV eagles:
Stephan Leyhe (11th place)
Pius Paschke (12th place)
Constantin Schmid (21st place)
Philipp Raimund (23rd place)
Karl Geiger (27th place)
Saturday - Team jumping
For the second team competition of the season, national coach Stefan Horngacher nominated the four DSV eagles Pius Paschke, Stephan Leyhe, Philipp Raimund and Andreas Wellinger.
Despite difficult wind conditions, the quartet achieved a good team performance and secured third place behind Austria and the day's best Norwegians.
Sunday - Individual jumping
No further German medals were collected in the second individual competition. Philipp Raimund and Karl Geiger were eliminated after the first round. However, Andreas Wellinger (seventh place) and Pius Paschke (ninth place) achieved top ten placings.
Stephan Leyhe and Constantin Schmid finished in 20th and 27th place respectively.
Next weekend (March 8-10), the "Raw Air" in Norway begins with the competitions at Holmenkollen (Oslo).
