Lake Placid: World Cup podium for Raimund

Philipp Raimund stands on the World Cup podium for the first time in his career and secures a sensational second place. He and Andreas Wellinger had already won the silver medal in the Super Team competition the day before.

The six DSV eagles Karl Geiger, Felix Hoffmann, Stephan Leyhe, Pius Paschke, Philipp Raimund and Andreas Wellinger have been nominated for the trip to the USA, as they were the previous weekend in Willingen. All six qualified on Friday for the individual competition on Saturday. 

Saturday - Individual and team jumping 

In the individual competition on Saturday, all German jumpers except Stephan Leyhe reached the second round. Austria's Stefan Kraft was in the lead after the first round, but was unable to defend it and fell back to 24th place.
Lovro Kos from Slovenia secured his first World Cup victory in the end. 
The best German was Andreas Wellinger in seventh place. Felix Hoffmann finished in eleventh place and achieved his best World Cup result to date.

In addition to the decision on the individual victory, another Super Team competition was also on the agenda. The second this season after Wisla. This one could not have been more exciting. The duo Philipp Raimund and Andreas Wellinger competed for Germany and narrowly missed out on victory by just 0.2 points. First place went to the two Austrians Michael Hayböck and Stefan Kraft.

Sunday - Individual jumping

Philipp Raimund, who was the best German in fourth place after the first round of the individual jumping on Sunday, was hoping for a medal. In the second round, he managed a strong jump to 135.0 meters and took the lead for a while. In the end, he was only beaten by the overall World Cup leader Stefan Kraft. Raimund finished level on points with Lovro Kos in second place and thus secured his first individual World Cup medal. 

Andreas Wellinger, who was still in 16th place after the first round, ended up in sixth place. Stephan Leyhe finished in 13th place, Felix Hoffmann in 27th, Pius Paschke and Karl Geiger did not make it into the second round.

The World Cup in Sapporo (Japan) is scheduled for next weekend (February 16-18). Two individual competitions await the jumpers there.
