Lillehammer: Wellinger jumps onto the podium twice

The DSV eagles confirm their strong form in Lillehammer (December 01-03). In their fourth World Cup competition of the season, they achieve their fifth podium finish - a historic result.

Friday - Qualification

The qualification from the normal hill already gave hope for podium places on the competition days. A total of five German jumpers made it into the top 10 on Friday: Led by Andreas Wellinger, who finished in second place 1.5 points behind Austria's Stefan Kraft, Philipp Raimund, Stephan Leyhe, Pius Paschke and Karl Geiger took fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth place respectively.

Saturday - Individual jumping

The outstanding Stefan Kraft won again on Saturday, taking the top spot with 296.7 points. A strong second place went to Andreas Wellinger (291.7 points). Third place went to another Austrian, Daniel Tschofenig (287.3 points).

From a German perspective, three more jumpers finished in the top 10: Karl Geiger in fourth, Pius Paschke in sixth and Stephan Leyhe in ninth.

Sunday - Individual jumping

As on the previous day, Andreas Wellinger also jumped to second place from the large hill and was only beaten by the currently dominant Stefan Kraft. This is Wellinger's third podium finish in his fourth competition.

Karl Geiger narrowly missed out on the podium behind Austria's Jan Hörl and finished fourth from the normal hill as well. Pius Paschke impressed with a seventh place, Stephan Leyhe and Philipp Raimund finished eleventh and twelfth. Martin Hamann unfortunately missed the second round and ended up in 41st place.

Next week in Klingenthal (December 09/10), the DSV jumpers will be competing for further top placings and World Cup points on home soil. The overall World Cup standings are unsurprisingly led by Stefan Kraft, who has won all the competitions so far. Behind him, Andreas Wellinger and Pius Paschke are in second and third place.
