New Year's ski jumping: Qualification victory for Anze Lanisek

Success for Anze Lanisek in the qualification for the traditional New Year's ski jumping competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

In front of an atmospheric crowd in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Slovenian was able to come out on top and secure the prize money of 3,000 Swiss francs. 

The best weather, an exciting qualifying day and strong DSV eagles have everyone looking forward to tomorrow's New Year's ski jumping! 
The fans first got to see training jumps in which the winner of the opening competition, Andreas Wellinger, was able to prevail in both jumps and confirm his strong form. In the subsequent qualification, he was only beaten by Anze Lanisek. The podium was completed by Austria's Manuel Fettner. 

Constantin Schmid was also allowed to take his place in front of the leaderboard for a long time. His jump of 132 meters earned him 9th place in the end, which secured him a good starting position for tomorrow's competition.

Tomorrow will continue at 12 noon with the opening ceremony and the New Year's speeches. At 12:30 pm the trial run will take place before the first run starts at 2:00 pm.
