New Year's ski jumping: Victory for Anze Lanisek
Half-time at the 72nd Four Hills Tournament: sunny weather, hot duels and a breathtaking audience. The New Year's ski jumping event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen once again had a lot to offer.
The fans in the sold-out Olympic Stadium were first greeted by the New Year's speeches and the traditional opening ceremony. During this time, the jumpers were already preparing for their trial run and the subsequent knockout duels.
After the duels in the first round, the final was characterized by strong jumps. In the end, Anze Lanisek, who had already won the qualification the day before, came out on top. The podium was completed by Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi and Germany's Andreas Wellinger. Wellinger continues to lead the Four Hills Tournament after his victory in Oberstdorf.
The jumpers now head to Innsbruck. Qualification for the competition on Wednesday will take place tomorrow.
