Severin Freund wins in Kuusamo

World Cup starts with two competitions. Domen Prevc succeeds for the very first time.

8 months after his surgery, Severin Freund won the second competition of the weekend in Finland. With jumps on 146 and 138 metres he won right in front of Daniel Andre Tande (NOR) and Manuel Fettner from Austria. Karl Geiger was the second best German athlete on rank 9 (133 m / 131 m). Markus Eisenbichler on position 15 (121.5 m / 132.5 m), Richard Freitag on 16 (134 m / 118 m), Stephan Leyhe on 19 (122 m / 131 m) and Andreas Wellinger on 20 (122 m / 128.5 m) complete the German results of Saturday.

The first competition on Friday started spectacularly. 17 years old Domen Prevc won his first ever World Cup competition with jumps on 138.5 and 140.5 metres in front of Severin Freund (140 m / 140 m) and his older brother and Four Hills winner of 2015/16, Peter Prevc (143 m / 140 m). Karl Geiger (140.5 m / 136 m) and Markus Eisenbichler (140.5 / 134.5 m) performed well and came 6th and 7th place.
