Wellinger triumph in Willingen

German youngster surprises and takes the single win. Poland wins team competition in Germany.

After the German team win in Zakopane (Poland) last weekend now the Polish ski jumpers took their chance and the win on German ground on Saturday. The team composed of Maciej Kot, Piotr Zyla, Dawid Kubacki and Four Hills Tournament champion Kamil Stoch left Germany with Markus Eisenbichler, Stephan Leyhe, Richard Freitag und Andreas Wellinger and Austria with Michael Hayböck, Manuel Fettner, Gregor Schlierenzauer and Stefan Kraft behind.

Even if Germany could only gain a third place on Saturday, one German athlete had every reason to be happy with his performance on Sunday too. Andreas Wellinger confirmed his strong condition of the last weeks and won with 147.5 and 135 meters in front of Stefan Kraft (148.5m/135.5m) and Manuel Fettner (144.5m/136m) from Austria.
The other German team members could not repeat their strong results from last weekend. Markus Eisenbichler landed on position 18, Stephan Leyhe on 20 and Richard Freitag on the 23rd place. Karl Geiger and Andreas Wank dropped out.

With 3366 points Poland is still leading the Nations Cup in front of Germany with 2958 and Austria with 2893 points.
