Zakopane: Another podium for Andreas Wellinger
Saturday - Team jumping
Pius Paschke, Karl Geiger, Stephan Leyhe and Andreas Wellinger competed for the DSV eagles in the classic team jumping event.
Thanks to two strong jumps from Leyhe (131.5 meters) and Wellinger (135.8 meters), the quartet ended up in third place after the first round.
Things got exciting before Andreas Wellinger's second and final jump. The German jumpers had been placed behind the Poles and the Japanese until then and had to make up a gap of nine points. Wellinger managed to do this with a jump of 137.5 meters, which was equivalent to third place in the second team competition as part of the PolSKI Tour.
Sunday - Individual jumping
Wellinger once again showed what excellent form he is currently in in the individual competition on Sunday. Still in sixth place after the first round, he impressed with a jump of 137.0 meters, which ultimately earned him second place. Slovenia's Anze Lanisek finished very close behind him with a gap of just 0.5 points.
Austrian Stefan Kraft secured victory, making it the 109th time in his career on the podium of a World Cup and setting a new record.
In the overall standings of the PolSKI Tour, the Austrians are once again at the top ahead of the Slovenians. The DSV eagles secured third place.
This weekend, the Ski Flying World Championships in Bad Mitterndorf/Kulm are on the program. The DSV eagles can also hope to win medals here.
